PSanders. Album: Underrated (EP)

After you listen to PSanders' album you get to realize what you can make when you rap/sing all in one song. Some of his songs are happy about maybe him and his life, then you always got those depressing songs. PSanders is a lyrical genius if you actually look at his lyrics. There is a lot of good rappers and singers out there that just aren't very well known.

In his album 'Underrated (EP)' he has a few songs but they are all very good and I personly think he did a very good job on it. Though he is not famous he is still very good. He is not very well known so most people probably have never heard of him. But if you want to hear some very good songs I recommend you look him up and give him a chance. He does have CD's but mostly he has Mix tapes. Which means you can still download them he just can't sell them. If I had to relate him to anyone, it would probably be Justin Bieber. Because he has his songs where he raps then he has his songs where he can sing too.

I think personally he did a great job on the album but every albums have there flaws. I have listened to a lot of his songs and I have been very impressed. I have only disliked a couple of his songs and I have heard alot of songs by him.

If I had to be with the album or against it I would definitely be with it. He is a great song artist so how could I possibly be against him? He has great songs for not even being famous and only being 17. He started off rapping young and over time he has gotten better. I think everyone deserves a chance so why not go listen to his music?

Four Symbols, The Fourth Album, Untitled, Runes, The Hermit, ZoSo; Under Any Name, LED ZEPPELIN IV Deserves 5 Stars

Ranking first in "100 Greatest Rock Albums Ever" by Classic Rock magazine in 2001 and also winning the top spot in Classic Rock's "100 Greatest British Rock Albums Ever" in 2006, there is no question that Led Zeppelin’s fourth studio album is a classic. Phonetically unnamed, the album is titled in symbols, shown to the above left, which represent the four members of the band, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and Robert Plant, respectively.

The album begins with "Black Dog". The song has a very complex melody layered over a rather simple 4/4 drum beat. The main riff, written by Jones, is very catchy and quite fun to play on the guitar.

The third track on Led Zep IV is "The Battle of Evermore". Says Page, "Battle of Evermore" was made up on the spot by Robert [Plant] and myself. I just picked up John Paul Jones's mandolin, never having played a mandolin before, and just wrote up the chords and the whole thing in one sitting." Sung by Plant and soprano Sandy Denny in a ‘question-and-answer’ style, the song makes references to J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. It is a very mystical, pleasant, somewhat haunting song.

Undeniably the most popular song by the band, "Stairway to Heaven" is the fourth song on the album. It is hands-down their most recognizable song the band ever recorded. Iconic, the song influenced many a songwriter, still to this day.

The last song on the album is "When The Levee Breaks." A heavier song than the rest on the album, "When The Levee Breaks" was originally written by Memphis Minnie in 1927. The song has a heavy, 'sludgy' feel due to Page's use of backward echo and flanging. A video of this song can be viewed by clicking on the attachment to the left.

In all, Led Zeppelin's fourth album is a classic definitely worth listening to, even forty-two years down the road.

John Collier did a great job with "The Chaser".

John Collier, the writer of “The Chaser”, did a great job with the short story. The story really grabs the reader’s attention in the first paragraphs. The story itself doesn’t have too much excitement, but it leaves the reader wondering what will happen later on in the characters life, which I really like.

Another part that Collier did a good job with was the characters. Alan Austen, the main character, is very believable. When he is first looking for the house Collier gives readers the impression that he is nervous, and after he enters he shows true interest in the mans products. The old man is also very realistic. He is a good salesman and at the end when he says, “Au revoir”, meaning see you again, it shows that they will be doing business again.

The story also shows some irony which is very important. Austen purchases the potion to make his girlfriend love him more and in the end readers can tell he will be coming back to the old man to reverse the potion. It was a very unexpected for the old man to pull a stunt like that, but it is very smart because he will make a lot of money from it.

The story “The Chaser” is a great short story. It has great characters, irony, and really leaves the readers wondering what will happen later on in Alan Austen’s life. I will definitely be reading more of John Collier’s stories in the future.

"The Chaser" short story Review

“The Chaser” wrote by John Collier was well written. It’s a story about a man named Alan Austen who went to an older gentleman to find a love potion. The older gentlemen begin the visit by talking about a potion he calls the “glove cleaner.” He tells Alan that it is not visible in an autopsy. Alan then begins to learn about the love potion. It is permanent the lady will never divorce him and she will forgive him. I liked the story because it had good setting, characters, and a little bit of foreshadowing after the story.

I liked the characters in the story. One was very informative while the other didn’t even consider the information he was given. The older gentlemen tried to warn Alan. But Alan just wanted the gentlemen to give him the potion to make the girl fall in love with him. I liked the fact that no matter what the older gentlemen told Alan he could only see the positive affects that the potion will have and none of the negative ones.

I also liked the setting of the story. In the beginning Alan started off nervous as he walked into the room with a rocking chair, an old kitchen table and shelve full of bottles and jars. I think the more the older gentlemen talked the more Alan’s nerves calmed and began to become happy. I especially liked how the story foreshadowed a couple of years into the future by talking about the poison or “glove cleaner.”

Over all I believed that the short story was well written. It had an interesting plot line that kept your attention. The characters were well developed. The setting was perfect for the story line. The foreshadowing at the end made it interesting.  

The short story "The Chaser" is worth reading

“The Chaser” is written by the author John Collier. The plot is not very exciting until you read the end and figure out what it all means. Alan and the old man are two opposite characters showing ignorance and intelligence. There is some irony in the story, but most of the irony is set to happen after the story.

Although the plot doesn’t have much action in it, the story really makes you think about what you are reading. At first I didn’t understand the plot, but after reading it again I knew what it meant. The man who wants the love potion that is only one dollar will eventually come back to get the five thousand dollar potion to kill his lover. The plot is very well written so you don’t understand what it means until you read to the end.

The main character Alan is not a very intelligent. Alan is a very gullible person. He is attempting to give a woman a potion to make her fall in love with him, even after he had been warned about how in love she would be. The old man with all the potions is the opposite of Alan. He is a very smart con man.

The story is about Alan who is going to the old man for a love potion. The old man has many potions that do all sorts of things. At first the old man explains the deadly potion to Alan, which is not what he wants. The old man continues tells him about the love potion and how strong it is. The irony in the story is that the old man knows Alan will come back looking for the much more expensive potion, the one that will kill. The irony is that Alan comes for a love potion but will end up buying a deadly potion later on. It is known that the old man knows because in the last sentence he says, “Au revoir,” which means, until I see you again.

The short story “The Chaser” is a story about an ignorant man and a con artist. The plot isn’t very exciting but it has a lot of meaning at the end. Although the characters were very different from each other, it worked in the story. Irony plays a big role in the short story. I think the title “The Chaser” is a hint of what happens later. Alan will come back for the deadly potion as a chaser to his love potion. 

John Collier's "The Chaser" may make you think twice about chasing your love to a potion store!

John Collier’s short story, “The Chaser”, is mysterious and kind of creepy. It is exciting in its own way, and I enjoyed it a lot. The characters include Alan Austen and an old man. They speak of a woman named Diana, who we never meet. At first we get the sense that Alan Austen is somewhere he shouldn’t be, but as the story unfolds we learn how magical of a salesman the old man is.

They speak of a poison. A poison that cannot be detected in an autopsy, is colorless, and flavorless. The questions we get right away are, why is Alan visiting a man who has poisons? And why is this old man telling a stranger about his illegal potions?

We are introduced into a room with “dirty buff colored walls” and “a couple of shelves containing in all perhaps a dozen bottles and jars”.Alan Austen asks for a love potion. The old man tells him "She will want to know all you do, All that has happened to you during the day. Every word of it. She will want to know what you  are thinking about, why you smile suddenly, why you are looking sad." once you get a sense of what is going on here, and why this peciliar old man is acting this way, it will hit you. The whole reason why John Collier wrote this short story. 

It is beautiful, the charactors are well rounded, the theme is something out of a romance, and it is very ironic. I enjoyed this story very much. 

John Collier's "The Chaser"

"Alan Austen, as nervous as a kitten, went up certain dark and creaky stairs in the neighborhood of Pell Street, and peered about for a long time on the dime landing before he found the name he wanted written obscurely on one of the doors.”  The opening paragraph of the short story "The Chaser" by John Collier sets the tone of the tale; somewhat foreboding and mysterious. Austen, a young man, is lusting after a woman named Diana. His love, though, is unrequited; so, he goes to visit an unnamed old man who sells potions of all varieties.

The man first shows him a very expensive "glove cleaner", or poison. Austen is immediately horrified, wanting "nothing of that sort." He wants a love potion, and gets one for extremely cheap--just a dollar. ""I can't tell you how grateful I am,” said Alan, watching him fill it. “I like to oblige,” said the old man. "Then customers come back, later in life, when they are better off, and want more expensive things. Here you are. You will find it very effective.””  This foreshadowing indicates what is to happen; Diana will become so infatuated with Alan that he will become maddened by her love, pushing him to buy the “life-cleaner” to put an end to the woman he so desperately yearned for initially.

In all, “The Chaser” is a good read. Though rather short, the story is full of irony, making it all the better. Austen goes to the old man’s dwelling, expecting to get a love potion to solve all of his love problems and have the one he desires return his feelings. Though Alan does indeed walk away with what he wanted (and for a good deal, too), he ends up leaving with more than he bargained for, or so one would assume. Who knows? Any adequate skeptic could argue that maybe Austen loved Diana enough not to end up killing herout of exasperation. But the implied outcome does seem pretty likely; "Thank you again," said Alan. "Good-bye." "Au revoir," said the man. The man's use of the phrase 'Au revoir,' French for 'until we meet again,' is a pretty clear indication of what may happen next, be it five, ten, even twenty years down the road.

"The Chaser": A Good Story For All Ages

John Collier’s story, “The Chaser”, is about a man, Alan, who wants his one true love, and an old man who is willing to sell him a love potion. The old man warns Alan that his love will become overly obsessive with him even when he wants to be left alone. The old man also tells Alan that he has a killing potion. Alan refuses the killing potion saying that he would never want to kill someone but wanted to know how much the love potion was. The old man told Alan it was one dollar but to beware that she would get jealous if he even looked at another girl and she would be worried if he was even one minute late. Alan thought this would be great. Finally someone would care about him like he cared about them. The old man gave him the love potion and Alan gave the old man the money. Alan was very grateful and thanked the old man multiple times. Right before Alan left the old man said, “Until we meet again.” The old man knew the man would come back for the poison potion because his love would get too overbearing. If only Alan would have known that himself.

“The Chaser” is a good short story for anyone to read and it’s worth the time. It’s very descriptive and sets the mood right away as it describes Alan being nervous about going to the old man. Though it’s descriptive, it’s not too descriptive. It uses the right words in exactly the right place to make the story interesting. I recommend reading it.

"The Chaser" by John Collier, is a very interesting and amusing story. This story is very good because its like there are hidden clues in the story so the reader have to reade it more than once to fully understand what it means. This is also a good story because the author was very creative.

The story's plot is very excelent because of the intensity that it has along with the excitement. The story makes the reader want to read more and more to see what happends next. It also gets intence when the author writes about the potions and see what they can do and which one will Mr. Austen will buy. There are also alot of other interesting things that happen in this story.

In "The Chaser", the reader will not fully understand the story the very first time they read the story. There are hidden clues to help you understand the story. After you read the story a second time, you will love this story even more. This Story would also be good to read during study hall or when you are trying to relax.

The story is also very creative. the word choice that the author uses in his story makes you want to read it again and again just so you can fully understand it. The author must have spent alot of time carefuly choosing his words.

This story is a good story to read during studyhall or if a readeris just board. It is a very good story to read over and over. The story seems like it could never get old.

The story “The Chaser” was written by the author John Collier. It is about a guy named Alan Austen, who is the protagonist in the story. Austen goes to an old man, who is the antagonist in the story, and asks for a potion, preferably a love potion for his girlfriend. The man gives him the love potion, not telling him the so called ‘side effects’ to the potion. Austen falls for the old man’s tricks, and takes the potion, which was only one dollar. What Austen did not know was that after he had given the love potion to his lover, she would become too attached to him, and he would want to go back to the old man, just to buy the expensive potion that would poison the girl.

The one thing that could be admired about this story, is the plot. The plot is something that someone can think about for quite a bit of time. As soon as a person would read the first line of this story, they should be hooked and want to read more right away.

There is a great sense of theme in this story, though it may be hard to recognize. The theme is led to be that Alan Austen should have just let the relationship with his girlfriend flow naturally, regardless of what might happen. But instead, Austen believes that he must ‘fix’ the relationship with a potion of love, which only causes matters to be worse. The characters in a story must work well with the plot and theme, and that is exactly what they do. Alan Austen is described as a nervous guy in the beginning of the story, but he becomes a jubilant and  pleased man in the end, because he ends up getting his potion. The old man never changes throughout the story, and is always staying at that scheming, evil old man. He tricks his way into Austen’s mind, and he loves that he does so.

As always, irony is one important factor in a good story. The author of “The Chaser” has done a fine job of placing irony into this story, and it makes it even better. Alan Austen goes into the old man’s house, expecting to just get the potion, and get out. But when someone reads to the end of the story, they don’t expect to see that the old man knows that Austen will be back, in just a matter of time. He leaves subtle hints all throughout the story to show that he was up to something, and most people would see that.

Overall, “The Chaser” by John Collier is a great story, with great characters and a great plotline. It has got a great sense of irony, because someone would never normally expect the old man to be up to something. Great story, great author, and a great set of characters are all the things that make this story good.

The short story, “The Chaser” by John Collier, is about Alan Austen who tries to find an old room that has an old man in it waiting for him. The old man sells Alan a special potion that would make his girlfriend love him and want to be with him forever. Alan loves that idea because that’s how he feels about her, so he buys it. The old man replies with “Au revoir” which means, goodbye until we meet again.

It does a good job of foreshadowing the future event. The old man tries to tell Alan that his girlfriend with become crazy and obsessive, but he thinks that is a good thing. The old man then says they will meet again, because Alan will want another potion to help with his girlfriend, Diana.

“The Chaser” has very good word choice for a short story. It has a lot of words that catch you attention and makes it interesting. Some of these words would be: obscurely, bountifully, insistently, fervently and many more. Wood choice makes anything better to read then something with boring and dull words.

The characters in the story are very believable. It doesn’t have one mistake were it would confuse you or make you think that didn’t really happen. Alan is determined for his girlfriend to love him forever and that’s all he wants, he never changes his mind or want anything else, but the old man knows he will be back.

The plot of this short story is very excellent. It gives you right what you need and it does it very well, it makes you think about it then leaves you with a good cliff hanger, but you still know what will happen after he uses the potion.

In the short story called “The Chaser”, John Collier tells a story of a man searching for love. The story starts off when a man named Alan Austen goes to a potion maker in search of a love potion, but to his surprise the potion maker sells poison as well as the love potion. The old man tells Alan that the girl who drinks the potion will love him forever and never fall out of love; this is exactly what Alan was looking for. The old man goes on to tell Alan about his potions effects and their prices. The poison is worth 5,000 dollars, and the love potion is only one dollar.

The short story was well written, because the end leaves you to imagine the next ten years of Alan Austen’s life. In the end of the story, Alan Austen says goodbye to the old man, and the old man says “Au Revoir”, meaning until we meet again. This ending allows you to believe the love potion will be too strong and the girl Alan uses the potion on will become obsessed and he will need to go back for the poison, allowing the old man to earn all of his money.

This short story is a good story because all of the characters are made believable. The characters in this short story are believable by being relatable to everyone. Everyone wants to feel needed and loved, and that’s exactly what Alan is looking for in the story.

This story has a lot of irony. At first, Alan wants love so bad he will do anything to get it, then in the end we can tell he will end up going back to the old man needing to kill the girl because her love is to strong.

Overall this story was well-written, had a good plot, and believable characters.

Being Chased by a Love Potion

John Collier is the author of the short story, “The Chaser.” The story is about a guy named Alan Austen, who is looking for a little sparkle in his relationship. While reading the story there are many unanswered questions that will go through the minds of many. There are four main things that make the short story good. One is the theme that is given. Two is how the characters act. Three is a sense of time and place. Fourth is the irony in the story.

The theme in any story will make the story better. In “The Chaser,” the theme is to let love go down its own path, don’t force it. In the story Alan Austen buys a love potion thinking that he will be loved forever. The old man selling it to him said that the girl would care about him more and want to know where Alan is all the time. What Alan doesn’t realize is that by doing this it might make the relationship worse. Love needs to happen at it’s own pace and shouldn’t be rushed.

The characters have a unique way of presenting themselves. The story starts off with a scary feeling and makes the reader want to ask the question, what’s going on. The old man has a kind of different feeling about him. He sits in a room all by himself with only a few pieces of furniture. Alan Austen has a suspicious feeling to him like, what is he doing there and what he would need with a love potion. The last character in the story is the girlfriend or wife of Alan Austen. She is not really in the story but the reader has to picture what she is like. When Alan goes looking for a love potion makes the reader think what the girl is like. Is she careless or is she just a busy women are some of the questions that could be asked.

A sense of time and place is another thing to look at. The time is around the 1940’s and many of what is said is from the 40’s. The sense of place is kind of scary and what helps the scene is the words the author used. In the story when the old man is sitting in the room by himself, the question comes like "where is this man." Many of the things the author uses helps put up a sense of time and place.

There are many things where irony comes into play. At the beginning of the story many questions run through the readers mind. Towards the end of the story you figure out that Alan Austen is there to buy some sort of love potion. Then the irony kicks in, the reader gets this immediate picture that the couple is going to be happy forever. As the old man starts explaining what some of the things that will happen, Austen thinks that he is going to be happy with this woman for a long time. But in the end it all changes.

Mr. Austen is one of the old man’s many customers and is also one to fall into the old man’s trap. The criteria I used to review this short story were the plot of the story, the theme of the story, the characters and how they grew, and the sense of time and place.

The plot of the story really makes you think about a lot. In the story, the old man is trying to get Mr. Austen to buy one of his many potions and is telling him about this love potion. The plot is a good one that people will get into and be interested to find out what happens. Right away when Mr. Austen walks into the old man’s house he experiences a weird feeling and that should’ve been his first clue to get out. The plot continues to make you think throughout the whole story and creates a sense of suspension about the story.

There could be many ways that people could perceive the theme of this story. The theme is indeed that Mr. Austen should have let love take its course and if it was meant to be it would have happened. But, it could also be said that the theme of the story is to not trust a man who is trying to sell you potions in a house that gives you nervous feelings. The story really gives the reader a sense of a theme or a lesson on what to do if you ever in that kind of a situation.

The characters of the story really work with what the story is trying to portray. Mr. Austen is described as a nervous man in the beginning and that really sets the tone of the story in the sense that the reader gets the mysterious feeling as if they are in the story. Towards the end of the story the feeling of nervousness sort of goes away and Mr. Austen gets more of a feeling of happiness because there is the possibility of the woman he loves falling for him. The old man, however, is trying to get Mr. Austen to buy one of his potions so he is trying to feel a sense of confidence. The old man grows in the sense that he gets Mr. Austen to buy one of the potions.

The sense of time in the story is probably set in the 1950’s or so. The way that you can tell when and where the story is from is the type of language the author uses and the way the author tells the story. The place of the story is mostly set in the old man’s house. People could also say that it would be set some time after with Mr. Austen and Diana. The way the author writes in the story would make a person believe that the story was set somewhere in England or somewhere on the east.

“The Chaser” is written by John Collier. The story is about Alan Austen who goes to this old man for some help in his life. The old man had a bunch of bottles that did certain things and especially one that can poison someone. Austen asks for the love potion and the old man keeps bringing up the expensive poison and saying, “customers come back and want more expensive things.”

“The Chaser” is a good short story because it makes people think. It has people ask questions like, “What is he doing there in the first place?”, or “Would he ever buy the expensive poison?” He keeps repeating the idea that his customers always come back to buy more expensive things, which brings up the poison that is worth $5,000 and not a penny less. The reader doesn’t know if there is any other potion that is worth more than that. So the reader would assume that when he comes back later on in life he will purchase the poison for his crush, because she would become too obsessive from the effects of the love potion he had bought earlier. 

The theme in this story is that you should be careful on what you ask for. The story does a great way of explaining why even though it doesn’t directly tell you what will happen down the line. An example of how Collier explains this theme is that the guy in the story keeps being reminded of the poison, and how the old man’s customers always comeback to buy more expensive things. When the old man explains the love potion to Alan he immediately pays for it to give to Diane, and then, in theory, he will come back for the poison.

Overall the “The Chaser” is a good story. The story gets you thinking about what will happen down the line when he buys the love potion. The story is also a great read if you have to waste time at the end of a study hall or a boring class.    

Chasing Love

“The Chaser” is a short story written by John Collier. This guy named Alan Austen was so nervous when he went up some dark creaky stairs. He went into a room with only a table and two chairs. On one of the walls there were a couple of shelves containing in all perhaps a dozen bottles and jars. Alan handed the old man a card that he was given. The old man has a lot of potions and Alan wanted to know what they were. Alan asked if the old man meant poison not potion. They are not poison they are love potions, for one teaspoonful of the potion it cost five thousand dollars. That is a lot for just a teaspoonful of a love potion. Alan doesn’t care on the price, he just wants to be loved. The old man says that once someone buys something expensive they will want to come back and buy more. In that case, a lot of people would want to go back if it is a good potion or not. It would matter to me if it was expensive or not.

The story "The Chaser" has to be the best short story that I have ever read. I would love to read more short storys written by John Collier. I think he is a great writter just from this story.

The Poison and The Love Potion. "The Chaser" Review

“The Chaser” is a short story by John Collier. In the story, the main character, Alan Austen, goes to a potion maker looking for a love potion. Before the old man gives him the love potion he shows Alan some of his other, expensive, mixes he has made. One that costs 5,000 dollars, but will poison a person and leave no evidence. The old man says the poison is a valuable potion and many people save up to buy it. The old man then sells Alan the love potion for only one dollar, telling him that the girl he gives it to will love him and care about everything he does. As Alan leaves, the old man says  “Au revoir,” this means until we meet again.

Over all, I think the story was very good. The irony through the whole story lets you wonder what will happen after Alan Austen gives the love potion to the woman. The fact that the story has irony makes it much more interesting to read. At the end, you realize that the woman will be too in love with Alan after she drinks the love potion, and he will save his money to come back and buy the 5,000 dollar poison.

The characters in the story are very believable. In a relationship, who doesn’t want their partner to love them endlessly? All Alan Austen wanted was for the woman in his life to love him, but as he’ll find out later in life, buying a love potion from an old man who also sells poison probably wasn’t the best way to find love.

This story is a great read for all ages. It is well written and easy to comprehend. The story’s plot is very interesting and will keep you thinking long after you have finished reading.  I would definitely recommend reading this short story.

John Collier's "The Chaser" is a must read

John Collier’s short story “The Chaser” is about a man named Alan Austen who goes to buy a love potion.

A large amount of the story is the old man telling Mr. Austen how deeply in love with him the girl of his choice would be if he gave her the love potion. Mr. Austen is completely in awe of the description of the love potion, if a little disturbed by the poison.

The story ends with Mr. Austen buying the love potion and leaving. It may seem incomplete at first glance, but this story has lots of foreshadowing. Collier makes it obvious that the old man believes that in the future, Mr. Austen will get sick of the girl being obsessed with him and come back to buy the poison. The old man specifically says “if I did not sell love potions, I should not have mentioned the other matter (the poison) to you.” The love potion was only one dollar, which is not enough for the old man to work so hard, unless he expected Mr. Austen to pay him five thousand dollars in the future.

This is a great story, and forces the reader to read between the lines. It is like a murder mystery that the reader can solve; only the murder hasn’t happened yet. This story’s creepy setting adds to that, being in a little room where an old man sits in a rocking chair, showing Mr. Austen poison.

Mr. Austen and the old man are the only two characters in the story, even though Mr. Austen mentions Diana. Mr. Austen is the typical love struck idiot, not understanding that the old man obviously knows that this is not as great as it sounds. The old man is smart with how he goes about his business, getting the customer to pay him to undo his own potion.

The only part not explained in the story is how the old man knew Mr. Austen’s name, who told Mr. Austen where to go to get this potion, and who gave him the card.

This story is a great way to spend a few minutes, being so short, but it makes the reader think. I would highly recommend this story to almost anyone.

Chasing False Love

“The Chaser” by John Collier is a short story teaching a lesson on why you need to find “true love” in someone. You cannot make someone love you, no matter how hard you try.  Austen Alan went to see a man in search of a love potion. It was a very “sketchy” setting.  A woman named Diana did not love Austen and he wanted her to.  He got to the neighborhood of Pell Street, which is where an old man lived that made “potions.” Once inside Austen was a bit uneasy, he just wanted to get the potion and get out.  The two began talking and the old man said that the love potion was only one dollar. The old man also had a “liquid colorless as water, almost tasteless, imperceptible to any known method of autopsy,” in other words he had a poison. However, this poison cost five thousand dollars. The old man continuously hinted that the woman would become obsessed and he would want the poison in the future after he saved up the money to pay for it and to kill her.

“The Chaser” is a great short story because it includes a lot of detail of the people and places. The descriptiveness really helps set the mood for the short story which is very “spooky” and mysterious.  It also helps you get a picture of the people and places. If you can picture the people and places it makes the story that much better.

I like that this story includes the cliff hanger, but also gives you hints as to what exactly is going to happen. I think if this story were to continue any longer it would just be drug on. Another positive  thing about this story is that it just pulls you in.  You really have to think about what the old man is implying and put all the little pieces together, its not just clear to the naked eye; you have to think about it

"The Chaser" Response

“The Chaser” by John Collier is all about a kid that has to deliver a message to a random person that he doesn’t even know. When he arrives at the door the man is waiting for him and plus he even knows the persons name. When he goes to that guys house they start talking and then he ends up buying a potion from the guy. Even though it’s not even a 100% that what he says it is it may not be. I personally do buy stuff from people I don’t really know or if I know they have a bad reputation. When he wants to buy the potion he is asking like which ones have the lowest cost because he can’t afford much. When he gets told about the love potion he starts thinking he should go with that. The love potion only cost one dollar.

When he buys the potion he tells the guy that the first one is always cheap but the next ones to come usually cost more. The story  leaves you with a cliff hanger because maybe the girl becomes obsessive and then the guys gets sick of her so maybe he will want her to leave him alone so he will go get a potion to make her go away or maybe even worse die. Stories like these are really addicting to read because you really want to know what happens later in their life. Did he kill her? What happened to them? Did the potion work? Questions like these are usually asked for cliff hanger stories like this one.

Does your woman need to be controlled? "The Chaser" is the solution.

"The Chaser" by John Collier is a very interesting story, not only is a very suspensiful short story it is very good with foreshadowing for the most part. Collier knew how to get a reader to read the story and think about it and read it again to understand the ending.


The begining of "The Chaser" you read about a fellow who is trying to find a room in the back ally. Already I started of with suspense, the story didnt tell me what the man is going to the room for and who told him to go. Collier did a great job with the fill-in-the-blanks begining. As the story continues he finds the room and steps inside to see an old man sitting in a rocking chair. The old man addresses him by Mr. Austen. The story goes on to explain that Austen set up a prearrange meeting to get a certain potion. For reasons not to spoil the story im not going to conitinue with the plot any farther.


"The Chaser" has the backbone to be a great short story for anyone of any age. Yes, I had to read it twice to just understand the meaning and to figure out the ending, which is very interesting. With the way the ending contributes to the greatness of the story, it creates a very good cliffhanger for the last part of the story. I often found myself thinking "Whats he going to do with the potion?" and "How does the potion work for him?". The cliff hanger just added to the great effect it had with the ending.


Overall i would recommend this short story to anyone whoes looking for a quick story to read maybe an SRP period in school or just a nice suspensful story to make you relax after a hard days work.

Au revoir "The Chaser"

“The Chaser” written by John Collier is a short story. In this story Alan travels to a neighborhood in Pell Street where he meets an old man in a spooky room. The old man creates potions that do an array of things. Alan wants a love potion to make the girl he loves, Diana, fall in love with him. As the old man begins to tell Alan what will happen when Diana drinks the potion the author foreshadows that Alan will become unhappy. The author also foreshadows Alan will return for a poison to kill Diana.

“The Chaser” is a good short story for anyone who likes to read. “The Chaser” will make the reader think and pose many different questions about what is going on. Questions like what is the relationship between Alan and Diana or how did Alan find out about the old man. Also since this story is short it allows the reader to finish quickly but will provide entertainment in the form of questions for a long time. This short story is very clear and concise so the readers are able to understand it. 

“The Chaser” has many different themes. One of the themes could be to be careful what you wish for. Alan wanting Diana to fall in love with him is all Alan wants but the story foreshadows that Alan will end up not enjoying it and ask for the poison. Another theme of the story could be everything happens for a reason. Someone shouldn’t go around trying to make people fall in love with them because it will only end up badly.

The plot or story line of “The Chaser” is incredibly well thought out. The story seems to flow from one point to another. There are no large gaps of missing information in this story besides the ones the reader uses to play with your imagination.

Read "The Chaser" Quite a Work of Literature!

John Collier writes a magnificent poem titled “The Chaser.” Alan Austin is the poem’s protagonist. He enters this old, empty, creaky room seeking help. An old man awaits Alan inside offering him a potent that would make his girlfriend obsessed with him forever. The old man sells Alan the potent. The old man implies that he will see Alan again as Alan leaves.                                                                                                                           

“The Chaser” is an excellent piece of poetry. The poem has an excellent plot, phenomenal word use, is relatable, and flows very well.                                                                     

The plot is excellent. The poem keeps your attention all the while you’re reading it. The plot is very concise and rarely did I come across superfluous information that didn’t add to the plot line. I haven’t read many poems, but rarely have I read one that has a plot such as this. The plot with the old potent selling man and the sucker Alan is very unique among poems.                                                                                                                                                    

The word choice of “The Chaser” is fabulous. The use of words such as bountiful, insistently, everlasting, and solitude embellish the poem and make it very interesting to read. The most spectacular use of words comes at the end when John Collier uses the words Au revoir that the old man speaks. He implies that he will see Alan again wanting more potent in the years to come.      

The poem for being fictitious is highly relatable to me. The poem is like some of our high school. Some students here are like Alan who get suckered into, not potents, but drugs. The old man of course can be relatable to the drug dealer. Some students buy the drugs once and then are addicted and come back for more. Just like Alan who will most likely come back for more potent.

“The Chaser” flows very well. The sentences are not choppy at all. One sentence seems to just flow right into the next. The fluency and writing style of “The Chaser” are phenomenal.

“The Chaser” is an outstanding piece of literature because of its great plot line, word use,  ease to relate to, and flows very well.          

Ke$ha's newest album, Warrior, gets 5 stars out of 5

When you come across this album on someone’s IPod, you are instantly Brought into a new world. Ke$ha’s latest album, Warrior, doesn’t fail to push the boundaries of pop music, and make its own path into the future of music.  Ke$ha has loosely been abiding by the rules set by her manager, and other pop artists, but with this album, it is obvious she has taken control and gone her own way. This 26 yr old artist is known for singing about everything from sex, her vehicle, and partying, to relationships and  just being yourself.

The song “Crazy Kids” definitely shows how her style is all of her own design. It reminds us of her song “We R Who We R” from her album Cannibal, which we remember from the very early stages of her career in 2010. The fact that many of her songs, such as, “Die young”, “Thinking of you”, and “Gold Trans Am” remind us of her early albums is proof that although she may want us to know it, Ke$ha is going by some internal rules. Not completely off the books.

Ke$ha has succeeded in making her songs so great with rhythm in the sence that They all make you want to tap your foot or just get up and dance. “Warrior”, a song about not fitting in and fighting through hard times, is a great example of this. The chorus is very catchy and makes you want to sing along. Same with "Die young", I have personally noticed that even some listeners that don't prefer Ke$ha have been caught tapping their feet.

In the end, Who knows if Ke$ha will continue her free-spirited style, or conform to the not so crazy sense of pop music, but Whichever way she decides to go, fans will more than likely still be screaming. This album gets a 4.5 out of 5  for its originality, beat, and pure "K$".  

''The Heist'' by Macklemore

After listening to Macklemore's album, The Heist, you can get to know his more personal life. Most of Macklemore's songs are about him changing into a better person and his life srtougles. He also adds comidy to his songs. This album was released October 9, 2012. He also talkes about equal rights and how people have to fight to get their rights back. The album also hit no.1 on itunes just hours after being released.

In most of Macklemore's albums it is easy to relate to because he talks about his life and strugles that he has overcome in his life. the beat of some songs like "Neon Cathedral", "My Oh My", and "wings" have a really nice beat to them unlike some other artists. The album also has really cleaver lyrics.

If Macklemore were to make a album with Eminem, it would be the best album of all time. They both can rap really fast but clearly so you can understand them. They are also really smart at fitting words and coming up with hooks and very cleaver lyrics. Eminem also knows how to make beats and how to produce albums and knows people that do a good job at it.

Halfway to Heaven: 5 stars

The album "Halfway to Heaven" by Brantley Gilbert is my favorite album. This album contains very meaningful songs. It is an album you can listen to at night to relax and fall asleep, it is also good “cruising” summer music. This CD has a variety of 15 different tracks. This album has sold over 780,000 copies.

Brantley has an amazing voice. The vocals in all of his songs sound astonishing; even if others are featured with him his voice mixes greatly with anyone’s. “Dirt Road Anthem” is sung with Brantley and Colt Ford; this song is a mixture of country rock because Colt Ford raps in it. All of his songs have so much meaning behind them, it makes them easily relatable.

My favorite song on this album is “You Don’t Know Her like I Do.” This particular song has always been important to me. It has always been a song between someone very important to me and I. Whenever I feel down I can just listen to this song and I am cheered up. The chorus of it is;

“‘Cause you don't know her like I do
You'll never understand
You don't know we've been through
That girl's my best friend
And there's no way you're gonna help me
She's the only one who can”
No, you don't know how much I've got to lose
You don't know her like I do”

All of Brantley’s songs I can associate with one memory or another, whether good or bad. All of his sounds have a nice up-beat tempo and are easily understood. I associate his music with happy, good, fun summer nights. I have a lot of good memories from this last summer; I spent almost every night out by a fire listening to this album.

I would give this album 5 stars. Brantley Gilbert is my favorite artist; I would give anything to see him in concert. All of his songs are so meaningful and I love them.

"Me and My Gang" Rascal Flatts

Me and My Gang is a really good album. There is a total of 13 songs on the album, with about five being big hits. It has a big range of songs from ones to party to and ones that make you fall asleep. One that has a nice upbeat to it is "Me and My Gang". It's a song all about hanging out with friends and doing stupid stuff just because you can. This is one of the songs that is a big hit. Obviously they expected that because that's the title of the album. There are some pretty good instrumentals in the song as well as vocals.

One of the slower songs is "Stand". It's a slow song but with an inspirational  message. No matter how much this girl in the song is broken all she has to do is stand. It's a very meaningful song. It teaches that it's not how many times she falls; it's how many times she gets back up. It's mostly vocals on the verses especially the first one.

There are also songs that spike an emotional connection. The two that were big hits are "My Wish" and "What Hurts the Most". Both of them are about relationships. "My Wish" is wishing a past lover a good life even though they're not together anymore. "What Hurts the Most" is about someone walking out of, or being taken out of, this person’s life. The basis of the song is about how it's really hard to live without this person and how they wish they could've established a better relationship. The life lesson is it's better to do something and possibly regret it than to not do anything and for certain regret it.

Overall it's a great album with some very touching messages. Within the total of the 13 songs, only about three of them have a happy message and tone. Those three are "Life is a Highway" (which is a bonus track), "Backwards", "Me and My Gang". Otherwise the majority of the other songs spike emotional connections and are a little sad. But it is a country album so all the songs tell a story like most country does. Each song teaches a different lesson and can be applied to life. There are some pretty great songs here that everyone should listen to.

Jason Aldean My Kinda Party

Jason Aldean is one of few country artists that mix country and rap together and are successful at it. He did a great job with, “Dirt Road Anthem.”  This is one of his most popular songs in the album My Kinda Party. This is one of Jason Aldean’s greatest albums. It is 4.5 out of 5 stars. This album is better then the other albums because he has so many popular songs in one. He has, “Tattoos on This Town,” “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Fly Over States,” “My Kinda Party,” and “See You When I See You.”

My favorite song out of the album My Kinda Party would be “Dirt Road Anthem.” This song has a lot of variety and its different then most country songs. A lot of people like this song even if they don’t like country. It does a good job with the mixture of rap and country.

Jason Aldean is a very experienced artist. He has a lot of years being a country singer. He has more experience the some new country singers like Hunter Hayes. Hunter only has one album out and it’s mostly about love. Jason has a couple albums and a lot of the songs are about life problems. Jason Aldean and Hunter Hayes have different styles of singing; they each have their own unique way.

This album has some variety, but not that much. He has a lot of love songs, but a lot of country singers do, there are songs that talk about things that relate to his life or what happened to him. I think the variety in song choice is good. He doesn’t have a lot of the some sounding music or song lyrics. Some singers just repeat the same song over; they just change the lyrics a little bit. Jason Aldean doesn’t he has complete different songs.

Tailgates and tanlines review

Luke Bryan’s album Tailgates and Tanlines is a great album with a variety of songs. The album has 13 songs; some up-beat and funny songs,and some serious and real songs. This album is his best one yet. Luke Bryan’s album was carefully put together so that there was a good mix of up-beat songs and slow songs so you never get bored. Luke Bryan’s album has songs written about life as a country boy, but also songs about how tough life is.

The albums first song is “Country Girl”, it is a great song because it is up-beat and makes people want to get up and dance. “Country Girl” is a great song and has become very popular. However, this song is not my favorite out of the album.

The 6^th song on the album is called “You don’t know Jack” which is about a man who is an alcoholic. The song goes on to say “If you think it’s just a bottle in a sack, you don’t know jack.”  The song shows the struggles an alcoholic and a homeless person go through and that we simply “don’t know jack” about their lives. This song is one of the best in the album.

Bryan’s 3^rd song on the album is called “Drunk on you”. “Drunk on you” rose to number one on country charts in June of last year after the song “I don’t want this night to end”, also from the album. This song has a good rhythm and catchy lyrics to sing along to. “Drunk on you”, “You don’t know Jack”, and “Country Girl” are said to be the best three songs in the album. Even though these songs are said to be the top three, all of the songs in the album are well written and sung. Luke Bryan’s album Tailgates and Tanlines is a great album that I would recommend to everyone.

Journey's Epic Escape

Journey’s album Escape ranks among the top light rock albums of its day. The album is composed of ten songs led by lead vocalist Steve Perry and embellished by very talented instrumentalists.

Journey’s Escape album is similar to the more modern group Coldplay. “Trouble” by Coldplay has many similar characteristics to Journey’s “Stone in Love.” The most evident of the similarities are the lyrics. “Trouble” includes the lyrics “I never meant to do you wrong” and “Stone in Love” has the lyrics “I do recall, those were the best times most of all.”                                                                                                                 

The Escape album can be associated with warm coastal beaches. The lyrics of “Stone in Love” and “Who’s Cryin Now” are the most reminiscent of warm coastal beaches. In “Stone in Love” the lyrics “in the heat with the blue jeaned girl” and “oo the memories never fade away” are words oftentimes correlated with American Beaches. In the hit “Who’s Cryin Now” Steve Perry sings the words “lying beside you” and “feeling your heart beat to mine” that relate strongly with beach-like activities.                                 

Escape starts off with a bang as the band sings the popular hit “Don’t stop Believen.”

 The song starts the album off right and the album continues on with 9 other classic hits. The 10 songs in the album are somewhat similar making them very fitting together in an album. The main similarity that brings all these songs together is the outstanding lead vocalist Steve Perry. Steve Perry has an excellent voice that’s fitting to  Journey’s style.                                                                                                                                

Each Escape song is unique in its own way. All the songs each seem to display a very different lyrical topic. For example “Don’t Stop Believen” is about faith, “Stone in Love’s” lyrics represent an endless love, and “Open Arms” is about giving yourself totally to someone.                                                                                                                  

The album’s songs are the ideal length. The majority of the Escape songs are under 4.5 minutes. This provides the listener with plenty of quality listening time, yet not too long to bore the listener. The song lengths are excellent, not seeming to drag on.                  

  

Journey’s Escape ranks among the top albums of its day. The songs are optimum length; each song is different yet fits, and the vocalists and instrumentalists are highly skilled which helped Journey create this epic album-Escape.                                                                                                                                                                

The Country Rapper Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean released his fifth album in October 2012 called Night Train. Night Train has a wide variety of songs preformed, most of the songs contain quality hooks, and the songs are a mixture of country and rap.

Most people think that all country songs are just about a guy who lost his girl and is feeling sorry for himself. Also many people think that country music cannot be danced to because it is so sad and slow. In this album Aldean has a wide variety of songs about a wide variety of things. Aldean sings about going to parties, growing up, turning people country, the iconic song about a woman, and others. Most of the tracks in Night Train have an exciting beat and makes a person want to get up and dance. Night Train also has slow songs for people who want to dance with a significant other.

              

The song “Only Way I Know” is one of the featured songs of Night Train. “Only Way I Know” contains a great hook created by an up tempo beat and catchy lyrics.

Night Train has a very unique sound of country and rap. The songs chorus is generally sung while the versus are rapped.  The only other artist that is similar to Jason Aldean in this album would be Colt Ford. This album would be a great album to listen to while working or in a car on a long road trip. Another place Night Train could be listened to would at a school dance. There is a majority of fast songs for the students to grind on each other and slow songs for couples to dance together. This song is associated with hard work in the country and bonfires. Night Train is one of Jason Aldean’s best albums for a variety of reasons. First, this album is quite unique because the country rap genre is not sung by many artists so the songs are fun to listen to. Lastly, Jason Aldean is a good singer/rapper who makes every song he sings relatable to almost everyone whether they are from the country or city.

Jason Aldean's Night Train

Jason Aldean’s newest album, Night Train, is a mix of 80’s rock with the vocals of a true classic country singer. The whole album is great and contains a great variety of songs to keep you listening. When I think of good country music albums, I think of Night Train.

This is Aldean’s fifth album, and I believe one of his best. The album was released October 16^th and has 15 full length songs. All of Aldean’s songs are different, some are slow love songs, like “Wheels Rollin” and others are upbeat and make people want to get up and dance, like “The Only Way I Know” which features Luke Bryan and Eric Church. Above all, the vocals in the album are exceptional. Jason Aldean has one of those voices that you can never get tired of hearing, no matter how often you listen to his music.

“Night Train” is the ninth song on the album and this song is the type that is very easy to relate to. If you’ve ever been in a relationship, been in love, or even just took a ride in your truck on a late summer night, it will not be hard to relate to the lyrics in “Night Train”. Not only does this song have relatable lyrics, it also has a catchy hook. In my opinion, it is the best song on this album.

Night Train is my favorite country album out right now. My suggestion would be to purchase the album because it has good lyrics, amazing vocals, and catchy hooks in just about every song. I’ve had Night Train on repeat for weeks and still haven’t gotten tired of hearing Jason Aldean’s voice.
